"Creating a Successful Hiring and Retention Program for Veterans"

ABOUT THE EVENT: This month we welcome Tyler Emley, the North East Ohio Regional Workforce Consultant for the Ohio Department of Veterans Services. Tyler will walk us through how a company can create a successful hiring and retention program focused on veterans.  We will talk about military culture and how this may differ from your work culture, debunk sterotypes and myths and supporting growth and development in your organization.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER: Tyler Emley is the North East Ohio Regional Workforce Consultant for the Ohio Department of Veterans Services. He served in the Marine Corps, where he deployed to combat zones while in the infantry. Since becoming a veteran, he has completed a bachelor's and master’s degree utilizing the GI Bill. He has subsequently worked as veterans services coordinator for a college in Toledo, Ohio and a resource coordinator for Jobs and Family Services in Akron, Ohio. While serving in this current role, he has worked with regional employers to make their workplaces military and veteran friendly, and assisted them with their recruitment efforts for his fellow veterans as well.

For this event, participants can learn and earn 1 SHRM PDC.
