    ABOUT THE EVENT:  This is part of our PCHRA 2025 Health and Safety Learning Series. We are partnering with the Portage County Safety Council to provide business owners, HR and Health & Safety professionals an understanding of the 2025 topcis related to workplace safety.

    This month the focus is on burn precention in the workplace. 

    For this event, participants can learn and earn 1 SHRM PDC.

    ABOUT THE PRESENTATION: In this powerful and eye-opening session, Mike Thompson takes you on an unforgettable journey through the real-life stories of fight, flight, and freeze— the human responses to trauma that show up every day on job sites, in breakrooms, and behind safety violations. Backed by research and over 17 years of frontline experience, Mike reveals how unresolved trauma impacts focus, decision-making, and risk-taking behaviors at work.

    ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Mike Thompson, MBA, is the Safety Council Coordinator at Family and Community Services in Portage COunty.  He is a passionate speaker with over 17 years of experience bridging social services and workplace safety. He’s facilitated more than 1,000 support group sessions, guided individuals through life transitions, and led community programs focused on personal growth and resilience. Whether supporting individuals or organizations, he brings a unique ability to inspire connection, growth, and lasting change.
