"Burn Prevention"
ABOUT THE EVENT: This is part of our PCHRA 2025 Health and Safety Learning Series. We are partnering with the Portage County Safety Council to provide business owners, HR and Health & Safety professionals an understanding of the 2025 topcis related to workplace safety.
ABOUT THE PRESENTATION: Join us for an informative and engaging workshop led by Mary Mondozzi, a renowned expert in burn prevention and safety. This workshop is designed for individuals, families, and caregivers who want to learn how to prevent burn injuries and respond effectively in case of an emergency.
This session will cover:
- Types of common workplace burns (thermal, electrical, chemical, friction, etc.)
- Initial emergency response within the workplace
- Treatment & prevention strategies
ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Mary Mondozzi, Burn Center Education | Outreach Coordinator, Akron Children's Hospital. Mary Mondozzi has been a Registered Nurse working in the Burn Institute at Akron Children’s Hospital since 1983. Mary holds a Wound Care Certification certificate and is a Certified Burn Registered Nurse.
She is involved in education for the burn nursing staff, an Advanced Burn Life Support Instructor, and presents on burn trauma and management for various fire departments, paramedics, nursing schools, and the community. She contributes as a co-author on the topic of burn injury for three nursing/medical books, was the lead author for the pediatric chapter in the reference study book for the Burn Nurse Certification, and is an item writer for the Certified Burn Registered Nurse certification exam.
