In partnership with the ConxusNEO, PCHRA invites you to join the ConsuxNEO June Member Meeting titled:
"Creating an Effective Work Environment for Hiring and Retaining Refugees"
ABOUT THE EVENT: This is part of our PCHRA 2024 Workforce Development Learning Series. We are partnering with the ConxusNEO to provide business owners and HR professionals information and support on programs and funding opportunities available in the manufacturing, healthcare and technology sectors.
ABOUT THE PRESENTATION: With the growing refugee population in the region, we invite you to join a panel discussion as we look to share thoughts on the design and implementation of strategies to establish a supportive and inclusive work environment that facilitates the hiring and retention of refugees.
Goals for this session include:
- Explore the benefits of hiring refugees and the value they bring to workplaces in terms of diversity, skills, and perspectives.
- Identify the unique challenges and barriers that refugees may face in accessing employment opportunities.
- Discuss strategies for creating an inclusive workplace culture that welcomes and supports refugees.
- Share best practices for providing language support, cultural orientation, and skill development programs for refugee employees.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS: Kelly Loebick-Frascella is the VP of Human Resources at Sweetmore Bakeries, a bakery manufacturer that produces muffins, brownies, granola, cookies, biscotti, cinnamon rolls and Danish for national restaurant and grocery chains. Sweetmore Bakeries is comprised of 4 separate and unique bakeries and she oversees the HR function at all locations. Kelly has a bachelor’s in psychology and an MBA from the University of Akron. She’s also a certified StrengthsFinder coach which has allowed her to build strong teams as well as consult at local non-profits around the ideal of tapping into people’s unique strengths. Kelly’s major source of accomplishment is the diverse workforce she has built over the course of the years and the leadership development program she created for supervisors to enhance their leadership skills.
Tanya Budler is the Founder and Managing Principal of Rise Together, an impact consulting firm that partners with communities to create the systems-level change that enables and empowers international newcomers to join the local workforce. A people-centric problem solver, Tanya started her career in the private sector by building global youth programs, orchestrating international events, and leading workshops across eight countries. Her career has since expanded into government, serving as an Economic and Social Recovery Fellow in the Office of the Governor of Connecticut and contributing to workforce efforts at the US Department of Transportation. Inspired by the immense potential at the intersection of public, private, and nonprofit sectors, Tanya made the bold move to Northeast Ohio in January 2022 to establish Rise Together.
Armed with a B.A. from Dartmouth College and an Ed.M. from Harvard Graduate School of Education, she strives to drive change by creating thriving ecosystems that harness the power of international newcomers
ABOUT THE ConxusNEO: Our role is to convene employers, educators, workforce programs, economic development, and community-based organizations to make that vision a sustainable reality. Our work is based on the supply chain management model where workforce system strategies are innovated among partners to deliver the in-demand skills local companies need as the ultimate end-users in the supply chain. As collaboration evolves, partners across the talent supply chain experience shared value. Educators and workforce training programs are better able to align curriculum with in-demand skills, economic development efforts can benefit from more strategic workforce assets, and community-based organizations can leverage relationships and a variety of program partners to recruit and support residents in their job preparation efforts.
