About the Presentation:  This month’s session focuses on the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) and the Pump Act that went into effect last year.  Our speaker will first guide us through the PWFA.  This includes

    • its objectives and scope
    • the legal obligations it creates for employers.

Also, guidance on implementing the provisions of the PWFA in the workplace including practical advice on how to effectively handle accommodation requests from pregnant employees.

Our next speaker will explore the PUMP Act, which expanded protections of the Affordable Care Act’s requirement for Break Time for Nursing Mothers.  In this section, we will learn

    • who is covered by federal pump at work protections, break time and space requirements.
    • prohibitions on retaliation.
    • resources available to both employers and employees.

Real world examples and solutions to common issues facing workers and employers will be presented. At the end of the session, attendees will understand workplace protections for pregnant and nursing workers and the remedies available to them.
